Volunteer with IKWRO
Volunteers make an extremely valuable contribution towards the work that we do at IKWRO and we appreciate every person that shares their time and skills with us.
We support each of our volunteers with training and supervision, so that they can learn new skills, gain experience and have a real, positive impact.
We are always keen to hear from you if you are interested in volunteering with us and we will also share specific volunteering opportunities here. We are especially looking for Arabic-speaking volunteers at the moment to assist advisors.

Trainee Counsellors
We currently have placement opportunities for Advance Diploma Trainees or Counselling Psychologist Trainees to provide counselling for our clients. All trainees will be offered clinical supervision and travel expenses will be reimbursed.
Training Placement Duties:
- Delivering psychological interventions to our clients
- Carrying out assessments
- Delivering one to one counselling (6 to 30 sessions)
- Committing to 4-5 clients per day, 1-2 days per week for 1 year
Requirements of Placement:
- Counselling psychologist Trainees or students from the Advance Diploma
- Enrolment on a recognised, accredited psychotherapy, psychology or counselling course
- A recognised trainee registration with a regulating body such as the BPS, BACP or UKCP
- Professional Indemnity Insurance (trainee status)
- Good practice knowledge of the BACP /HCPC/BPS ethical framework for counselling and psychotherapy
- An interest in trauma and/or domestic violence and sexual violence
- Have completed 150 hours of clinical work
- A second language would be desirable (Arabic, Kurdish, Farsi)
- Undertake an enhanced DBS check which IKWRO-women’s rights organisation will arrange
