We express our profound sorrow for the tragic loss of lives and violence endured by both Palestinians and Israelis in the past two months. As an organisation dedicated to women’s and human rights, we are deeply troubled by the disproportionate impact of these attacks on women, children, and other vulnerable groups, with a staggering 67% of the casualties being women and children.

The situation in Gaza is dire, with 1.7 million people displaced and facing severe shortages of food, water, and fuel. This has led UNICEF to declare Gaza as the “most dangerous place in the world to be a child”.

We urgently call upon the UK government and the international community to support an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, de-escalate hostilities and adhere strictly to international law. Additionally, we advocate for the prompt delivery of aid to address the critical humanitarian needs in Gaza, to prevent a further loss of life.

We stand for a just and lasting peace in the region that ensures the rights and dignity of all civilians, irrespective of their religion or nationality. Hence, we call an end to the occupation of Palestine and a dismantling of the apartheid system.

It is imperative that the violence ends.
