News and media

IKWRO is committed to spreading the word about our work through regular blogs and ensuring coverage of our issues in the media.  Wherever possible our staff will provide interviews and comment on the following issues:

  • ‘Honour’ based violence
  • Forced marriage
  • Female genital mutilation
  • Domestic violence
  • Sharia Law in the UK
  • No recourse to public funds
  • Asylum and immigration policy
  • The rights of women from ethnic minorities

Occasionally we are also able to link journalists up with women who have been directly affected by ‘honour’ based violence, forced marriage and other forms of abuse.  We will only agree to this where it is in the individual woman’s best interests and where confidentiality can be guaranteed.

Unfortunately we are not able to provide interviews to student journalists for university assignments, because of our limited staff capacity and the very large number of requests that we receive.

For media enquiries please telephone us on 0207 920 6460.  If you would like to be added to our media contacts list, to receive press releases and news updates, please email Sara.Browne@ikwro.org.uk
